Hello family! We open the year in the best way with an exquisite MOMinterview. Is there anything better than a good read, hot chocolate and a wood stove? Well here we go!
Today's protagonist is Alicia, she is a mother of 3 and has always been clear that her thing is to work with her hands. He tells us that his creativity increases over time and that he tries to bring all his ideas to life. She is the one behind the Instagram of @house_of_frida, a project in which she creates articles for mothers and babies with care that can be seen in every detail. Let's find out!
Lua&Lee: Since you became a mother, has your perception of motherhood changed? Could you tell us if you have experienced changes between the first and the second?
Alicia: In my case, the authentic maternal revolution came with the second. I want to believe that it is because of maturity or perhaps because of the experience I already had with the first one (more than 7 years apart). The third has brought me calm, peace and a "I'm doing well, I don't need anyone to tell me" that is very necessary for any mother. Mauro has allowed me to lay my foundations from the bottom up. But I point out, calm and peace does not mean that we are zen at home, that there are discussions like in all houses and general chaos when it comes to bathrooms and dinners 😉
A: Well, it's difficult, why should we fool ourselves. The one who stays working at home is also the one who makes the food, the one who takes the little ones to the pediatrician and the one who goes out to buy bread. And this is so because due to my partner's work we cannot do it in any other way, although in the afternoons or in times of little work for him we are at 50%. Although I have an agenda with a thousand things written down for the next day, in the end I do a third part, that's why I learned not to set such high goals for myself. Every little advance is a party for me and there is no frustration worth it. The reality is that motherhood was the trigger for everything, an authentic description of me begins by saying that I am a MOM. From there, everything else.
A: House of Frida was born before my middle age, at that time I made cushions, embroidered frames, cloth dolls... I went to fairs and markets, but I didn't quite launch myself. This stage lasted a little over a year, then Sol was born, he started scratching me when I breastfed him, I started looking for nursing collars that weren't t-shirt yarn or crochet because I didn't like any of them and I found Australian silicone ones.
I got in touch with a supplier to buy silicone parts, the first designs were very basic, but they started to like it... my big boom and my real launch was Instagram. There I contacted several girls who had many followers (now they are called influencers) they had a pull, their style and way of life were very much in line with my philosophy, I sent them some necklaces and... magic was done.
Although now it is questionable, this social network has given me a lot, both personally and professionally. And the project is called that because Frida Kahlo is a great muse that I admire and also art is always present in what I do.
A: House of Frida has a lot of rope to pull. I don't set very high goals or projects that involve giving them up, I want to live in peace and enjoy what I have. I currently have about 25 stores in Spain that sell my products, they are the ones that have mostly contacted me, and each one of them makes me feel super proud and satisfied.
A: They call us entrepreneurs, but I think we are simply very stubborn and persevering women. Life will always want to knock you down, but despite falling and crying, we recover and are invincible. This must be applied to life in general. We are women orchestra, because we believe that we can handle everything and in the end, we fight but it is the basis of all this: insist, resist and never give up. Sometimes believing in your project alone is not enough, you have to convince everyone! There is a lot of work ahead.
L: What advice would you give to an enterprising woman who wants to be a mother?
A: Don't put it off, it's never going to be a good time. I repeat: NEVER. Do it now and do it already.
A: I was invited by Mar, from @yvolar , a girl I admire a lot, plus we're both crazy about having three kids... but I assure you it's a lot of fun !! So I would like to invite Yasmina from @minishuu, her project is really nice and I want more people to know her.
L: Great, here we go!
Family, we have come this far today. We are with a rush of energy after talking with Alicia, that we are going to conquer the whole world hehe. We encourage you to bring your projects to life, taking advantage of the fact that it is a new year and that it is only up to us to make it incredible.
Until next time. Arrivederciiii
