Hello family! We are happy to share with you the first DADinterview of our blog. And it is also that this month we celebrate and pamper all dads because the day is coming when kisses and hugs are only for them.
Today we interview Rodrigo from @misteroderic, an Argentinian who came to Spain with the idea of traveling and working around the world, but who found fatherhood long before the adventure began. Today the father of 3 and a partner of his partner, lives his role as a father in Barcelona quite naturally. He also shares all his fatherly and family discoveries on his blog http://www.mrroderic.com/ Let's find out...
Rodrigo:Paternity changed my life at the age of 26, we were newlyweds, recently arrived in Spain from Buenos Aires, and in a rather precarious situation, so the responsibility that having a baby made me snap and feel really grown up for the first time.
A: Our idea when coming to Spain was to travel around Europe working as bartenders (we have the title) however the arrival of our first daughter changed those plans and forced us to settle down, work and look for a definitive home for which we chose Barcelona, of course.
A: The division of tasks is given by the needs of the house, taking into account that my partner has fibromyalgia, the burden of hard work falls on me: cooking, laundry, garbage , vacuum cleaners, etc.
A: My partner and I are partners in an online marketing agency specializing in childcare and children's fashion. Since 2006 my partner has been working from home to be able to raise our oldest daughter, and since 2012 I have also had a home office. Paternity/maternity made us look for a job opportunity that would allow us to be present for our 3 children, take them to school, pick them up and be aware if they need something during the day or if they get sick.
A: My blog has always dealt with paternity because it was the means to communicate with the family that is in Buenos Aires. In 2003 when it started it was exclusively about our family. Over time I added content and changed domains until I made it personal again as mrroderic.com. And the selection of topics has to do with things that affect me as a parent, ideas and needs that arise.
L&L: Since you work as an SEO and Social Media Manager, what advice you would give to entrepreneurial moms and dads who create blog and social media content. Drop the magic tip 😉
A: I think that parents have to take the place that corresponds to us, however, many times I meet gentlemen who are super cool parents and in their life they have not changed a diaper. Be careful with that!
L&L: Do you think that the father's role in parenting has changed? How do you imagine it in a few more years?
A: In many cases, the role of father has changed, there are many of us who are not afraid to tell our children that we love them and to make public our love for them. We must be aware that care is not exclusively for women, it is also our responsibility.
R: The goal is to continue working on Gipande SEO & Social (https://www.gipande.es/) offering online marketing services and tools to help small and medium-sized children's fashion and childcare companies to grow on the internet with online stores, on Google and on social networks. On a personal level we have already closed the children's factory (we have two daughters aged 16 and 10 and a boy almost 3) so now it is about enjoying them, helping them to be good people.
L&L: Can you tell us what the best everyday moments as a dad are for you?
A: I take the three of them to their cabbages separately and each of those moments is unique
Each new achievement of one of my children is fantastic: new words in the little one, the first game won at middle school soccer (plays in the neighborhood club) or the first math exam approved by the older (has ADD and dyscalculia so a passing exam is an achievement)
As we always tend to end these talks, the last thing we ask Rodrigo is who he invites to participate in the next interview on our blog and he has mentioned Cristina, the mother behind @laboratoriodemama, so here we go!
So we come to the end of this fun interview with the first dad of our blog. In advance we wish him and everyone a super happy father's day and family. We are waiting for you on our Instagram @lualeekids to receive your comments and suggestions from blogger dads you want to know a little more about!
